# Changing the duration of a dissolve or audio fade

1. In your sequence, [zoom in](/adobe-premiere-basics-windows-edition/editing-in-the-timeline-panel/zooming-in-and-out.md) on the dissolve or audio fade you'd like to change. 
2. Double-click the dissolve or audio fade. A duration box will appear. 
3. Enter a new duration for the dissolve or audio fade. **Note**: The duration time format is: Hours;Minutes;Seconds;Frames. By default, dissolves and audio fades are one second long.
4. When finished, click **OK**.
